The staff at ADVISORS with Purpose  is a group of competant and dedicated people who have felt the call of God to use their collective talents to serve His Kingdom.  To help you see the people you are working with, here is is a little bit about us.

Lorne Portrait  Lorne Jackson - President 

Lorne provides overall leadership and vision for the work of  ADVISORS with Purpose. After 25 years in the financial services business he sold his company and left the “for profit” world in 2002 to create the Canadian National Christian Foundation (CNCF) as a federally incorporated public foundation to serve donors in Canada wanting to give more efficiently and with more flexibility.

Lorne donates his time to the Foundation and that has led him to working with Christian financial advisors and charity leaders in funding God’s work across Canada and around the world. He is spending much of his time these days travelling and speaking at ministry and church events, helping raise the awareness of methods and options for giving from our estates while reducing our taxes.

With a passion for giving and overall stewardship Lorne has written a book on the subject of Stewardship. In his book he points out that stewardship is an often misunderstood and misrepresented word. His book entitled, “After the Faith Decision… all else is stewardship” reminds readers that stewardship is not just about money or fundraising but is all of life as we live for our Lord.

He also enjoys mentoring numerous business and professional men as well as donating his time to his local church.

Lorne also enjoys tennis, travelling and sharing time with his wife Doris of over 45 years and their two married children and four grandchildren. 

JAN KUPECZ (1)  Jan Kupecz - Executive Director

Jan provides oversight to program development, implementation and administration, long range strategy, ministry partnerships, communications and marketing, staffing and financial practices for ADVISORS with Purpose. For several years, Jan gave leadership to a donor sponsored program, helping leaders of Christian charities across Canada practice servant leadership. Over 100 church and ministry leaders participated in the 2 year journey. As a result CNCF has developed strong partnerships with many other ministry organizations and currently helps over 30 in the area of Planned Giving. Her significant experience in marketing and communications is put to good use at CNCF and provides practical help to partners churches and charities through its “Partnership in Planning Giving” program.

Jan also oversees the Freedom Initiative, a program helping churches provide free face to face debt advice to all in need and is herself a trained debt coach in her local church.

Jan has experience as an entrepreneur and business coach and prior to joining CNCF was the Chief Operating Officer of a business law firm and for several years of a national financial services firm.

Jan and her husband Joe make their home near Ottawa, are active in their local church and enjoy family time with their children and grandchildren.

Tanya Princep Tanya Prinsep - Director, Planned Giving Partnerships

Tanya joined the AWP team to bring leadership, creativity, and management to the areas of communication and marketing.  She is an experienced and versatile professional with over 20 years of experience in both the corporate and not for profit sectors.  Having developed and operated her own project and event management company, Tanya has become quite adept at leading and supporting team members to achieve objectives and maintain harmony and now carries that into all of our partnerships.

Her experience with and understanding of both Christian and secular environments allows her to ensure the voice of CNCF is approachable, relevant and meaningful.  She is fluently bilingual and appreciates the diversity of our communities.

She is the Chair of the Leadership Committee of a national denomination, active volunteer in youth ministry, avid reader, and keen observer of people.

Tanya and her husband Chris along with their 2 active teenage boys have made their home in Barrie, Ontario. She loves camping, travelling, cooking and music, and is always willing to try a new adventure.

 Lorraine  Lorraine Hopkins - Estate Advisor

Lorraine Hopkins is an Estate Specialist with Advisors with Purpose. She brings over 30 years’ experience in the financial and insurance industries, including roles in Estate Planning, Personal Financial Planning, Personal Banking and Insurance Underwriting. Lorraine holds the designations of Personal Financial Planner (PFP); Accredited Financial Counselor Canada (AFCC) and Fellow of Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). She also holds certificates in Estate and Trust Strategies, Christian Financial Counselor and is a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners.

Active in her local church, Lorraine serves as a trustee, financial secretary and assists in children’s ministries. She enjoys teaching and encouraging individuals and families in the areas of biblical financial stewardship.

Lorraine and her husband Tim live on the west coast of Vancouver Island.


   Cindy Byker Cindy Byker - Estate Advisor

I have been involved in the financial industry as an advisor dealing with investments and insurance for almost 20 years.  Recently my focus has been more on life insurance needs and other income replacement planning. I hold the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and the Elder Planning Counselor (EPC) designation.

I also have a comprehensive understanding of the agricultural industry as I grew up on a dairy farm and attended Kemptville College in the Agriculture Diploma Program.  My husband Bill and I are partners on a 1000 acre cash crop farm that is an hour south of Ottawa, Ontario.  On the farm I have always handled all the bookkeeping and administrative responsibilities.  

 Bill and I have 4 adult children, 2 of whom are married and we have 2 young grandchildren.

Over the years I've been actively involved in our local church and Christian School and have served on many committees and boards which often involved a position of bookkeeper or Treasurer.  Another passion of mine has been serving on the board of Camp Adonai, which is a Christian camp for our area churches that has been in existence for over 50 years. I've been on the camp board for over 10 years, serving as chairperson for 6 of those years. I also enjoy being at the camp volunteering one week each summer in the kitchen, coordinating the food supplies and cooking for 100+ campers and staff with the help of 4 wonderful ladies.

I enjoy gardening, golfing, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Effie Gomulia is an estate advisor, a tax preparer and a money coach. She first learned about money management through Crown Financial Ministries (www.Crown.org). Using her knowledge gained from her own life's experiences and research from various sources, she is committed to help others to be literate about their personal financial matters, to reduce their money-related stress, and to achieve their financial goals. 

Effie holds an M.B.A. degree from Stuart School of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology. She also holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Civil Engineering from University of California Los Angeles. Her paid and volunteering experiences in a few countries include teaching, business, and engineering. 


 Tanya G  Tanya Geertsema - Admin Assistant

Tanya has worked in administrative roles for the past 20 years in the trucking industry, printing industry, financial services, earning her Branch Manager’s license in mutual funds.  She took a break professionally to raise and teach her 3 children, but continued using her skills in their local church and homeschool organizations.  In 2012, Tanya felt called back into service in a part time capacity with CNCF/AWP, allowing her to continue to teach, volunteer, and now manage the admin of her husband’s company.

Tanya provides the first connection with donors looking to create a biblically based estate plan and provides admin assistance to the estate specialists.

She has been married to Mark for 22 years and together they enjoy the summer months in Ontario camping with family and friends – winter is tolerated with skating and skiing. In addition to raising and homeschooling their children, Mark and Tanya foster a special needs adult. In her spare time, Tanya is an avid knitter.

Tanya Rust Tanya Rust - Admin Assistant

Tanya was born in Ajax, Ontario and has since lived in every province west of Ontario. She has worked in a wide variety of fields as a surveyor assistant in pipeline construction, a painter, a letter carrier/postal worker, and a customer service cashier – and is also certified as an Internet/Network Administrator.

Tanya and her family moved Port Alberni, BC in 2007 and she has served in her church in numerous capacities teaching Sunday school, as Audio/Visual Ministry Lead Sound Technician, and volunteer Event Coordinator until she became Church Administrator in October 2012.

Tanya joined the ADVISORS with Purpose team in January 2015. Tanya loves spending time with her husband Shaun and their two daughters. She continues volunteering as Lead A/V Sound Tech, and enjoys reading, studying the Bible, knitting, boating, hiking, listening to music, traveling, and working with her brothers and sisters in Christ to the Glory of God.
